 FIRM DESCRIPTION:

This firm is a Boston-based investment manager focused on equity investments in publicly traded small- and mid-cap companies. Their strategy is opportunistic in both growth and value and seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation from a portfolio of equity investments by conducting bottom-up fundamental research across all sectors. This firm has a strong track record that has compounded well in excess of relevant benchmarks since inception. They manage private funds, separately managed accounts and sub-advises registered mutual funds. 

 

The firm is looking for a qualified individual who will be responsible for developing a marketing plan for growth in assets as well as maintaining relationships with consultants, sophisticated institutional accredited investors; private fund/SMA sales to institutional, high net worth organizations, endowments, foundations, plan sponsors, and family offices.

 

The successful candidate will also be challenged to provide timely industry related insights on key trends developing in the marketplace, including search and product development trends.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for building strategic relationships with global, national and regional consultants by enhancing the Firm’s brand, market and product positioning within the institutional consulting community.

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to identify asset growth opportunities (i.e. search activity); maintain strong ratings for existing client exposure; increase exposure/approval ratings for institutional investment focus.

  • Establish and maintain active consultant relationships.

  • Facilitate investment communications, reviews and due diligence initiatives.

  • Serve as central contact and coordinator for all assigned consultant-led requests-for-proposals and other related sales opportunities.

  • Execute on established goals of product ratings, sales activity and client retention within defined consultant coverage.

  • Monitor and deliver planned actions with consultants, including database and questionnaire responses ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness of delivery.

  • Communicate opportunities to enhance existing strategies and develop new products through ongoing dialogue and relationship building with consultants.

  • Identify and communicate industry trends (asset allocation and search) and consultant activity.

  • Complete meeting agendas, pre-meeting notes and call reports in a timely manner and ensure CRM is updated timely.

  • Complete requested special/ad-hoc reports/assignments in a timely manner.

 

Skills and Experience

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 7+ years of experience in Investment Management/Financial Services (or Investment Consulting) desired.

  • A verifiable track record of success raising institutional assets across several years and market conditions.

  • Strong understanding of equity investment strategies/products and market dynamics is desired.

  • Experience working with Institutional Consultants is a plus.

  • CFA/ability to work towards CFA certification desired.

  • Excellent sales/relationship/representation skills with in-depth product/investment knowledge across multiple asset class.

  • Strong understanding of investments and investment process.

  • An understanding and exposure to institutional investment consultants/gatekeepers.
