The role of Management Company Controller provides an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to explore the private equity/venture capital sector.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the preparation of the quarter-end and year-end financial statement packages for the firm as well as various General Partner entities
Assist in the preparation and review of the firm’s annual operating budget and forecast while actively incorporating the feedback of all team leaders
Review monthly UK subsidiary accounts, the monthly conversion and consolidation of accounts for the Firm’s financial statements
Analyze both short and long term cash flows, which includes assessing the impact on cash requirements and debt service
Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of financial and management reporting
Coordinate the year-end close process, which includes acting as a point person for the US and UK auditors
Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed
Assist with general firm operations duties as needed
Coordinate the preparation of monthly Credit Team reporting package and fee schedule
Act as point person for Credit Team projects and analyses
Work closely with the Credit Team management regarding deal fees and confirm the proper treatment for the Credit Funds, Firm, and its Credit management entity
Manage and act as technical resource for a staff of three accountants and provide training to new employees as needed
Manage the weekly invoice and expense reimbursement process for the firm and its subsidiaries
Requirements:
Must have a very strong work ethic, a desire to learn, a “team player” attitude and strong attention to detail
Must have experience in accounting for flow-through entities, such as limited partnerships
Must have experience in understanding terms of securities, legal documents and investments
Must have strong analytical and organizational skills
Must have experience with general ledger accounting systems (Experience with Great Plain is a plus)
Must have the ability to interface with internal and external tax professionals and to understand tax issues
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with people on all levels within the organization
8 to 12 years of relevant experience; Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA required
Exposure to international accounting practice is a plus
